Shur-Lock composite rolls combine the extended pass life of tungsten carbide, powder metallurgy tool steel or other advanced materials with the durability and economy of an advanced composite roll.
Shur-Lock composite rolls combine the extended pass life of tungsten carbide, powder metallurgy tool steel or other advanced materials with the durability and economy of an advanced composite roll. With Shur-Lock roller mills, mills achieve a 6 to 20 times increase in performance compared to traditional iron rollers. Your mill will see:
- Reduced roll inventory
- Increased tons per groove
- Less correction time
- Less scrap
- Lower rejection rates
- Increased facility usage
- Lower cost per rolled ton
- Higher quality final product leaving the factory
Shur-Lock composite rolls provide a perfect cross-section, so your rod or bar mill will see less wear on the roll stands. The number of rolls and flute changes is reduced, allowing your mill to do the job it was designed for: continuous rolling “to size” and tolerant product. Lower your cost per rolled ton by reducing the number of delays associated with roll and trough changes. Check out our installation diagram to see how easy the Shur-Lock Roll system is to use.
To assemble the system, swivel rings and steel spacers are placed on the alloy steel holder (A), followed by Shur-Lock patented Double Nut locking components (B). Once the system is assembled, up to 35,000 PSI (or 2,500 bar) is pressurized; This literally stretches the steel pergola (C). The gap is easily filled by hand tightening the outer nut (D). Hydraulics are released, resulting in a system that is mechanically locked and ready to roll.
