Todays wire rod mills operate at increasingly higher speeds and need a guide roller that provides them with the wear resistance and low density their applications require. Tool steels are not very competent. Fe-TiC guide rolls inevitably fail. The alternative is SMETiC 2000.
Specifically designed for guide roller applications, SMETiC 2000 is a high-performance cermet material built to meet the demands of unique operating parameters and withstand todays harsh conditions. It outperforms SMETiC tool steels because it can handle speeds as high as 120 m/s requiring guide roll rotation of approximately 35,000 rpm and does not exhibit the microporosity present in conventional FeTiC guide rolls.
SMETiC 2000 rolls are processed with advanced HIPing (hot isostatic pressing) technology to guarantee the highest performance and quality.
